Orthopaedics has been a part of leprosy reconstructive surgery over the past six decades.

Since 1999, this speciality is further developed to deal with fractures/ dislocations and general orthopaedics. It specialises in orthopaedic problems due to neurological involvement, such as polio, cerebral palsy, nerve injuries. The Department has facilities such as Arthroscopy and the image intensifier to provide quality care.

Our institute is a “centre of excellence” for Diabetic Foot Care recognized by the World of Diabetic Foundation.

Monday to Friday – 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Saturday – 8:00 AM -10 AM

The OPD service is aimed at providing quality care for patients, augmented by a fully equipped minor-procedure room and dressing room. The treatment plan is tailored to the financial status of the patients with no compromise in the standard of care.

The minor-procedure room handles suturing of lacerations, incision and drainage of abscesses etc. The dressing room is functional even on Sundays to serve the patients who need daily ulcer care and handles minor debridement as well. Holistic care is ensured through inter-departmental referrals.

Ulcer clinic

The ulcer clinic is dedicated for diabetic and leprosy ulcers. The aim of this clinic is to save limbs by frequent dressings and good antibiotic cover. The ulcer is regularly reviewed and debrided to hasten healing. All other confounding factors in wound healing such as anemia, malnutrition, poor glycemic control etc are optimized to augment healing.
