Schiefflin Institute of Health Research and Leprosy Centre (SIHRLC), Karigiri is a renowned non‑governmental organization that began its services at Gudiyatham area in 1982 with a mission to eradicate leprosy in the Vellore district. Working in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Government and the World Health Organization (WHO), the institute played a significant role in Multidrug Therapy (MDT) trials and leprosy control programmes in the region.
Over the years, as leprosy services stabilized, the institute expanded its focus to comprehensive skin care and community‑based health services through regular outpatient clinics and skin camps.
Expanding Care for the Community
As part of a strategic plan initiated in 2020, SIHRLC strengthened the provision of general healthcare services at its Gudiyatham branch, moving beyond an exclusive focus on skin diseases.
Today, the Gudiyatham clinic has evolved into a growing multi‑specialty healthcare center, offering accessible, affordable, and reliable care to the local community.

The Gudiyatham clinic is centrally located, near the new bus stand and behind the CSI Good Shepherd Church, on the Katpadi–Gudiyatham Road, making it easily accessible for patients from surrounding areas.
