Staff of SIHRLC, Karigiri Dr. Madhusmita Das, Scientist, Molecular Biology Laboratory, attended “The 2nd “Belt and Road” International Forum for Leprosy Precision Treatment and Prevention, Conference” organized by Institute of Deramtology, CAMS & PUMC, China, co-organized by Nanjing Medical University Centre for Global Health (Nov 06-09, 2019). She was also recognized as one of the molecular biology experts. She presented her work titled “Transcriptomic profiling of Mycobacterium leprae: Insights into Drug Resistance and Reaction in Leprosy”. This conference had representation from China, Japan, India, United Kingdom and Nepal. A detailed overview of the leprosy update is China in terms of the epidemiology and laboratory research was presented by many experts. Experts from other countries presented their latest work in the field, which included Laboratory research, Clinical practice, Reconstructive surgery, Rehabilitation and research insights from other diseases. On the third day of the conference, the experts visited the Institute of Dermatology, CAMS & PUMC, Nanjing. The experts also visited the China National Leprosy Museum, located inside the campus which was filled with the history and artifacts collected over 100 years.
